As the Austin nights turn crisp, Southwestern Folk Noir collides with ’70s songwriter rock in Anna La Mare’s bold, electrified project Damn Sam. Think Gram Parsons Project wandering into Jefferson Airplane’s winter solstice party; Lucinda Williams sharing a hot toddy with Lera Lynn; or the nostalgic glow of Sierra Ferrell drifting through a cold Texas breeze. It’s raw. It’s moody. It’s fun. And tonight, it’s got just a hint of twinkling seasonal magic.
Damn Sam centers on original songs by Anna La Mare, stepping (mostly) away from her ballad-driven solo work to unleash big sound, layered harmonies, gothic shimmer, thunderous vocals, and eclectic, exploratory guitar work. The result is a spirited paradox: uplifting yet shadowy, grief-tinged yet full of fire—like a candlelit porch on a cold night.
