Anna was a member of the 2024 AC expedition to Bolivia which successfully climbed classic peaks such as Pequeño Alpamayo (5370m) and Huayana Potosí (6088m), in addition to attempting others. As an author she also met and interviewed the Cholita Climbers, a group of Aymara indigenous women climbers. The Cholitas climb and guide at high altitude in their traditional dress, the pollera - huge skirts, 3 petticoats and an agoyu (a knotted blanket that serves as a backpack). In this talk Anna will discuss both the climbs and the challenges facing the Cholitas. The talk will be held at the Alpine Club's premises at 55 Charlotte Road, EC2A 3QF and, as always, non-members are welcome to attend.
