Hi folks, Leo here to tell you about the very first Animal Tracks event! I'm excited to have been asked to curate a programme of some fabulous acts and songwriters and bring them to Huddersfield for your listening pleasure. The night is going to be an early evening Sunday show with doors at 400 and music from 430 until 7 with bookable floor spots to start (email me if you want to play a few songs at the start and save on buying a ticket) then I will be playing a support slot set before introducing the guests for each edition. Expect chilled out vibes, a seated immersive listening experience and to hear artists talk about their craft, inspirations and share how their songs came to be.
First up is the sensational Thomas Wilby Gang, a unique band from Wakefield with stunning songs, great harmonies and a style that feels familiar, swampy and rootsy but is also distinctively their own and from the Yorkshire delta. I've long admired this band and their excellent songs and they're a wonderful way to kick things off in style!
Anyway, get your tickets on the link and support original live music in Huddersfield. Please help us out by sharing the event and inviting your friends so we can make this a regular fixture in the Huddersfield musical calendar!
Here's the event description from the ticket site:
A chilled Sunday evening session of song and storytelling, with sets from from Leo Brazil and Thomas Wilby Gang with half an hour of folk club floor spots to start. Email [email protected] to book a floor spot.
Leo Brazil
Huddersfield's very own genre fluid sonic adventurer and song generator. Wild hearted purveyor of fine organic music with animal soul.
Thomas Wilby Gang
Named after the infamous peyote addled gunslinger, Thomas Wilby Gang play raw, swampy, blues and Americana tinged rock and that if he were alive today, Thomas Wilby himself would hopefully be happy listening to, while on his back, staring up at the stars. Now writing material for a third album after releasing two self produced albums, Backwoods Crackin' and Wasters Regards, the second being available on heavyweight blue vinyl as well as cd and download. TWG record in their own studio, built around an ex BBC, self-rewired, Calrec desk, using analogue gear, tape, and dusty old reverbs to try and capture the sounds of classic albums that have influenced the band.
