About this Event
“Animal Advocacy and the Arts” is a captivating exploration into the symbiotic relationship between creativity and animal advocacy. The talk spans literature, visual art, and cinema, including works by writers Virginia Woolf and George Orwell and photographer Ravi Agarwal, and ethical discussion of films such as Bong Joon-ho’s Okja and Pixar's Finding Nemo.
The lecture will be followed by a screening of Kevin Sherwin's recently showcased short film How Do You Milk an Almond? — a whimsical stick-puppet musical loosely based on real-life lawsuits, providing an entertaining and reflective portrayal of current events. This new short film has received early praise from prominent filmmakers in animal advocacy, including the director of Cowspiracy, Keegan Kuhn (executive produced by Leonardo DiCaprio) and the director of The Animal People, Denis Henry Hennelly (executive produced by Joaquin Phoenix).
