Antagonist Productions announces its upcoming production of Angels by Mike Oppenheim. Angels follows a group of interns and residents through their year at a deteriorating county hospital while fending off a zealous county official bent on downsizing it. Performances will run April 2, 3, and 4 at Antagonist Productions in Lexington.At the heart of the story is a constant tension: idealism vs. survival. Every character starts somewhere between “I want to help people” and “I need to get through this night without breaking.” The result is a gripping, often darkly funny, and deeply human portrait of what it means to keep showing up when the system keeps collapsing. Angels exposes the collision of medicine, politics, gender, and power in a system stretched past its breaking point.
