For the reopening of settantaventidue, Andrew Pekler will play an improvised modular synth set based on motifs from his latest album New Environments & Rhythm Studies. The performance will feature juxtapositions of Pekler's familiar palette of synthetic field recordings, undulating electronic textures, shifting percussion patterns and serene melodies. As with most of Pekler's work of the last decade, the album and its live presentation are attempts to re-describe past tropes which laid claims to authentically represent music and sound from beyond the Western world (exotica, ethnomusicology, field recording) as undertakings of the imaginary. The special performance is kindly hosted by House of Finn Juhl!
