Described by The New York Times as "a fine singer with guitar work reminiscent of the cult hero Nick Drake," Andrea von Kampen is a singer-songwriter known for her introspective storytelling and captivating melodies. After releasing a series of well-received EPs, she made her full-length debut in 2019 with Old Country. Her sophomore album, That Spell, followed in 2021 on Fantasy Records. In 2022, von Kampen made her acting debut in the independent film A Chance Encounter, distributed by Samuel Goldwyn. She starred in the movie and wrote and recorded its soundtrack, released through Fantasy Records. Her third studio album, Sister Moon, was released independently in 2024. Inspired by the writing of Richard Powers, the album explores themes of climate change, the interconnectedness of nature, and our place within it. Von Kampen has shared the stage with acclaimed artists such as The Tallest Man on Earth, Trampled by Turtles, Watchhouse, Punch Brothers, The Wood Brothers, Bonny Light Horseman, and Leif Vollebekk, while also headlining tours across North America and Europe. She has performed at renowned festivals, including the Newport Folk Festival and the Rocky Mountain Folks Festival, and her music has reached a global audience, with over 55 million streams on Spotify. This late summer into fall, von Kampen will release a protest EP confronting the hateful rhetoric that reemerged into American politics and writes an urgent collection of songs that speaks truth to power and calls for justice and solidarity.
