PRESENTATION:
Although the causes of attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) are genetic and neurobiological, multiple environmental influences shape the developmental course and outcomes for children with ADHD. Prominent among these is parenting and parent mental health. This presentation will walk you through Chronis-Tuscano’s program of research. It involves the development, evaluation, and dissemination of interventions integrating a focus on parent mental health and parenting to enhance developmental and treatment outcomes for diverse youth with ADHD.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER:
Andrea Chronis-Tuscano is a professor of psychology at the University of Maryland, where she leads programs focused on ADHD in children, teens and college students. Her research looks at how early factors such as parenting challenges or parental mental health influence outcomes for children with ADHD. She also studies how to create effective treatments that families, schools, and doctors can use. She has published over 160 scientific papers, held leadership roles in major psychology organizations and served on editorial boards of top journals. She has received multiple National Institutes of Health research grants. In 2025, she was honored with the inaugural Pelham Visionary Award for ADHD Research and Treatment.
