About this Event
The “White City Ladies” guided tour is an exploration of central Tel Aviv, revealing the hidden stories of the women who shaped Israel’s cultural and architectural landscape. As we walk past iconic Bauhaus-era landmarks, we’ll discover the trailblazing women behind the city’s design and development. Join me for an eye-opening experience.
We’ll meet at Dizengoff Square, near the fountain—a site both named after a woman and designed by a woman. After a short introduction, I’ll lead the walking tour, stopping at key landmarks to share the stories behind them. We’ll pass the Dov Hoz Community Center, originally built by Bessie Gotsfeld as a home for young religious women; see the former residence of Hana Rovina, the celebrated “first lady” of Hebrew theater; and visit Ruth Playground, originally named after Henrietta Szold, a leader of WIZO.
After several more stops, we’ll conclude the tour back at our starting point. The tour lasts between 90 minutes and two hours, depending on group size. The route is fully accessible and suitable for all ages and abilities. Since the route is circular, we’ll finish exactly where we began.
About our Tour Guide:
My name is Tomer Chelouche. I started guiding tours in Tel Aviv in the footsteps of my ancestors, who participated in the establishment of the city. Unfortunately, they didn't leave me any real estate :) but at least they left me with good stories. I’m a 39 year old father of two lovely boys (most times) living in Tel Aviv. I hold a Master’s degree in Political Science from Tel Aviv University. In my tours, I strive to make participants feel like they are part of the story. I’ve collected more than 150 reviews with 5 stars on Tripadvisor.
