Louise Grasmere CD Release Concert: “Two Crows”
Sunday, April 26, 3pm

Arlington, MA
Tickets: $49, $39, $29
Performing in and around Boston for three decades, Louise Grasmere is a local legend with a devoted grassroots following. Her new CD, Two Crows, spans jazz, blues, folk-rock, Americana and more with unforgettable stories and unparalleled vocal artistry.
Two Crows is an album born and raised during three years of struggle and perseverance. With a stellar set of new original tunes she wrote during the pandemic, Louise headed into the recording studio in January 2023. Shortly after the initial recording sessions, Louise had an acute cerebellar stroke with absolutely no warning signs. But after months of rehab and recovery, and the support of so many, Louise was back in the studio. Two Crows is a genuine come-back story, and if these songs are any evidence, she is more than 100% back!
Combining all the grace and fluidity of the classic jazz singers with the ringing power and authority of the great blues shouters, Grasmere’s sound is wholly her own. Think Bonnie Raitt laced with the smooth landscapes of Joni Mitchell, the imaginative improvisations of Ella Fitzgerald, and the gritty authenticity of Big Mama Thornton.
From the gritty title track Two Crows to the poignant universal questions of Tilly’s Song, Louise’s songwriting explores the countless choices and chances we encounter in life and weaves compelling stories about the inevitable twists and turns in the road. In Jupiter, Grasmere goes out on an ethereal, creative limb to imagine how Jupiter, the Roman God of the Sky, decided what he really wanted when he took control of the universe from his father Saturn. The romping silliness of Miser in a Money Tree reminds us that through all the differences we may have, we need to take care of each other and live and let live.
Joining Louise on stage is a stellar band featuring some of Boston’s best players (and her recording buddies): Kevin Barry (guitar & lap steel), Consuelo Candelaria (piano & keys), Marty Ballou (electric & upright bass) and Tom Arey (drums). Plus, Louise will play her signature cigar box guitar on a couple of tunes!
Louise Grasmere has recorded three solo albums: No Detour Ahead, Blue Ain't Only Blue, and the forthcoming Two Crows, which will be released in April 2026. Blue Ain't Only Blue was named one of the top 5 blues albums of 2006 by the Boston Herald. Grasmere also released an album with the Boston-based Americana & Roots Gospel band Meeting Across the Water and has appeared as backup vocalist on many recordings. Grasmere has also traveled worldwide as a featured soloist with multiple Boston-based choral groups. This year Grasmere will tour both Ghana and Austria with two Boston choirs.
