ABOUT THE PROJECT: ""Tide of Consequence" comprises three painted panels embedded with microplastics and handmade paper encased in broken, uneven nets that represent the negative human impact on our oceans. Growing up surrounded by the Caribbean Sea, I witnessed firsthand the transformation of pristine waters into repositories of human waste. Increasing global pollution is now reflected in water systems throughout the world, fundamentally changing how I perceive plastics and daily consumption. Due to relentless human activity, vast expanses of our water resources face contamination on a daily basis. Our interconnection with the oceans is vital—these pieces serve as an abstract depiction of our troubled present and a call to recognize what we stand to lose.”

ABOUT THE ARTIST: Lusiana Morales Febo (b. 1999) is a Puerto Rican tattoo artist, sculptor, and painter based in Savannah, GA. She received an BFA in Painting and an MFA in Fibers from the Savannah College of Art in Design (SCAD).
Being raised on a tropical island surrounded by nature encouraged her passion for the environment. Lusiana decided to go vegan back in 2018 and this sparked her awareness of environmental problems. This led to an interest in discarded materials and an exploration for materiality. Her recent work centers around her love for plants and connections in nature, concentrating on experimentation and her relationship with the natural environment.
Lusiana attended the School of Architecture of the University of Puerto Rico. While at school for architecture, Lusiana undertook a tattoo apprenticeship in Bayamon, PR. During the apprenticeship, surrounded by artists and the arts community, she decided to move to Savannah GA to pursue fine art and study at SCAD.
Currently, she combines her passion for art, tattooing, and the wellbeing of the environment with her community by continuing showing her work and working as a tattoo artist. She envisions herself returning to her roots in Puerto Rico where she will continue to collaborate with other artists, traveling the world spreading art and continuing her studio practice.
