Then and Now brings together works from across Christina Xu’s artistic journey—pieces inspired by the people and places that have pushed her to reflect, heal, and grow. A self-taught visual artist and muralist based in Oakland, Christina’s practice explores themes of resilience, empathy, and community, with a special focus on honoring the stories of women and children.
From her early years painting with limited resources to her later work completing public murals throughout the Bay Area, Christina’s art has always been grounded in the belief that creativity can transform how we see ourselves and one another.
