Presented by the Pickering Manor Auxiliary.Pickering Manor Auxiliary will screen The Notebook followed by a Q&A with a panel of local dementia experts.
“The Notebook” is based on the 1996 novel by Nicholas Sparks. It stars Ryan Gosling and James Garner (as the young and old Noah respectively) and Rachel McAdams and Gena Rowlands (as the young and old Allie respectively). Set in 1940s South Carolina, the film follows poor but passionate Noah who falls deeply in love with wealthy Allie, sparking a romance that defies social class and time. Years later, an elderly man reads their story to a woman in a nursing home, revealing a timeless love that endures even through her memory loss.
Following the movie, Mary Knapp, a caregiver support group facilitator, and Pickering Manor CEO David Woodhead, NHA, will be available to take questions from the audience and share their knowledge, expertise, and experience with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.
Online tickets are $10 per person. If available, tickets will be sold at the door for $15. All proceeds from this event will benefit the Pickering Manor Auxiliary.
