About this Event

In this animated adaptation of Ted Hughes' Cold War fable, a giant alien robot crash-lands near the small town of Rockwell, Maine, in 1957. Exploring the area, a local 9-year-old boy, Hogarth, discovers the robot, and soon forms an unlikely friendship with him. When a paranoid government agent, Kent Mansley, becomes determined to destroy the robot, Hogarth and beatnik Dean McCoppin must do what they can to save the misunderstood machine.

The movie starts at 4:30 p.m. It will have closed captioning and is rated PG. No food or drink allowed in the theater.

Free Admission

On this day, the JFK Library will offer FREE admission with the Buzzword "SPACE" to all visitors. Youths ages 17 and under are always free.


How to Attend

FREE Admission when you use the buzzword "SPACE" at the Admission Desk or enter SPACE as the Coupon Code at checkout when reserving tickets online. Please contact [email protected] with any questions or concerns. All seating and activities are available on a first come, first served basis. Children and youth (17 and under) must be accompanied by an adult.


Sensory Flexibility

This is an inclusive program and both people with and people without disabilities are always welcomed. A Flexible Calming Space (quiet room) is available for anyone who needs a break at any time, especially anyone experiencing sensory overload.


About Massachusetts Space Week

Massachusetts Space Week is a statewide festival (April 20-26, 2026) that features more than 100 space and STEM engagement activities, bringing together research institutions, museums, public libraries, educators, industry leaders, students, and the general public through symposia, screenings, stargazing events, workshops, and community programming. The Space Consortium serves as the lead organizer and coordinating body of Massachusetts Space Week, working with local organizations to host or co-host individual programs that are integrated into the broader statewide series of events. Getting to the JFK Library

Parking is free at the JFK Library.

A Paul Revere shuttle bus will be running from the JFK/UMass MBTA stop on the Red Line to the JFK Library.


Security

To make your experience safe and enjoyable, the JFK Library takes the safety and security of all guests, staff, and visitors seriously. Upon entry to this federal building, all visitors must pass through a security check with a metal detector. All bags will be searched by Security Officers upon entry. See our FAQ for more details.
