Match ups and Pairings:
The match-up process is what really gives the Teams event its strategic edge. It is a back and forth
process to determine how each team’s four members will face off against the other side. If you have not
attended a team event, we highly recommend practicing this process with another person. This may seem
a complicated process when reading it, but the TO’s and other Captain’s can provide support if needed.
Preparation
For this process, you will require four cards, representing four factions/players in your team. The back of
the cards must be the same, and the front should have some obvious representation of the faction it
represents. Some teams take a lot of pride in customising their cards, but a basic playing card or MtG
card with an image stuck to the front will work just as well.
Stage 1
The team captains roll off. The winning captain is Team A, and the losing captain is Team B.
Stage 2
Each captain will select their first faction/player and will place the card that represents that faction/player
facedown on the table. Once both captains have done so, each captain will flip their face-down card so
that it is face-up. This is each team’s defender.
Stage 3
Each team will then look at their opponent’s defender and will choose two of the remaining factions in
their hand. Once selected, place those two factions facedown in front of the opponent’s defender. These
are each team's attackers. Once both teams have selected and placed their facedown attackers, flip them
face up.
Stage 4
Each defender will now choose one of the opponent’s attackers to play against.
Stage 5
Finally, Team A’s defender will pick the table they want to fight on. Then Team B’s defender will pick the
table they want to fight on.
At the end of this process there should be two matchups determined, with each team having two factions
remaining.
Stage 6
The unselected attacker from each that pairing will become match up 3, with the faction remaining in each
teams hand being the 4th match up
Each round will have 10 minutes set aside for this process. This can be the most daunting part of Teams
but it is also part of what makes it special. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch
- we want everyone to feel like they understand what is going on prior to the day.
Painting Requirements:
● All miniatures must be fully assembled and primed with no bare plastic, metal, or resin
showing as the bare minimum painting requirement.
● WYSIWYG is preferred but flexible on request with the TO.
● The TO reserves the right to remove any models from play that do not meet these requirements.
Prizing:
The team with the highest round points followed by battle points at the end of the event will be the winner
of the event and each player will receive a 1st place trophy. A prize pool is in place for the
raffling of door prizes. All other players are awarded a small sum of store credit.
