"The Earl and the Pharaoh" - A talk by the Countess of Carnarvon

As part of Women's History Day celebrations 2025, Bolton Library and Museum Services is pleased to welcome for the first time in Bolton, the Countess of Carnarvon to talk about her recent book “The Earl and the Pharaoh” that documents the relationship between Lord Carnarvon, archaeologist Howard Carter, and Egyptian pharaoh Tutankhamun and how the world’s most famous discovery was directed from her home Highclere Castle, aka Downton Abbey.
A book signing of “The Earl and the Pharaoh” will take place after the lecture, if you wish to buy a book and have it signed by Lady Carnarvon please arrive in advance of the lecture.

At the request of Lady Carnarvon all proceeds from the event will go to the Mayor's Charities.
