About this Event
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No it’s Super Snail!
Join author and illustrator Elys Dolan as she reads her picture book Super Snail. By day Kevin is a mild-manner slug, but by night he puts on his shell and becomes Super Snail! Will he be able to save the city from the super villain Laser Pigeon? Come along to find out.
You’ll have the chance to practice your illustration skills by learning how to draw Super Snail with Elys, and you’ll even help to design a brand new super hero.
Elys grew up in a place that consisted of a house, a tree and a field. She lived in the house, played in the field and occasionally fell out of the tree. Later, Elys amassed an extensive collection of colouring pencils and went to study on the MA in Children’s Book Illustration at the Cambridge School of Art. She’s been writing and illustrating children’s book ever since.
When not making books Elys grows cacti, collects pocket watches and waits for the day that someone will bake her banana bread. She’s a lecturer on the MA in Children’s Book Illustration at the Cambridge School of Art where she does a lot of loud speaking. Elys also has a PhD in humour in picture books, so she’s technically Dr Dolan of doing funny pictures.
