EXTRA: "Sunday FLAVA" Programme SUN 9 November 11:00am-5:30pm

  • Artist's Talk at 14:00, Sunday 9 NOV 2025

MARINA TRANI - Artist's Talk Why a Talking Statue?

In Rome there are 6 much loved talking statues and they are symbols of satirical, political expression. They have performed this role for centuries across many different forms of government and leaderships.

Nowadays, their role seems to be more relevant than ever with nationalism, intolerance and wars on a sharp rise. In my paintings, Pasquino and Lucrezia, I celebrate these symbols and, through them, I voice my own sense of disorientation and confusion. (NB This formal talk is scheduled for 14:00 on SUNDAY 9 NOV 2025 but the artist will be able to speak informally to viewers during the time she is present at the Gallery.)

  • Other Artists' Informal talks by various exhibiting artists including - Dan Waring, Sneh Mehra, Melanie Coote, Maurice Mutua
  • Meet The Artists Various exhibiting artists will be present
  • POP-UP Art Shop

-------------------------

FLAVA the exhibition showcases an exciting array of art and art practice by a group of 14 contemporary artists - each with a unique expression of how they see the world, and their world - the colours, ideas, concerns, joys, aesthetics, stories - that meld artists imagination with the everyday experience of life in the 21st century!
