A POWERFUL DOCUMENTARY: 20 YEARS IN THE MAKING
Organ transplant tourism has been on the rise globally, yet behind the promise of life-saving procedures lies a disturbing and largely underreported reality. China has become the leading destination for transplant tourism. The majority of organs are forcibly harvested from prisoners of conscience, including individuals subjected to unspeakable cruelty.
You are cordially invited to attend a screening of the award-winning documentary State Organs: Unmasking Transplant Abuse in China, followed by a moderated Q&A with leading experts in medicine, ethics, and human rights.
About the Film:
Masterfully directed by Peabody Award-winning filmmaker Raymond Zhang and accompanied by an evocative score from Emmy Award-winning composer Daryl Bennett, State Organs has garnered 40 international awards and was an official contender for Best Documentary Feature at the 97th Academy Awards. Based on true events, the film chronicles the heart-wrenching journeys of two families as they relentlessly searched for their loved ones who mysteriously disappeared while in police custody. Their pursuit of truth uncovered a systemic, state-sanctioned forced organ harvesting operation—one that continues to this day.
Panelists:
Ms. Sara Effner, Human Rights activist, Community Outreach Director of Missouri Falun Dafa Association
Ms. Yvette Scarlett, Chair-Elect of End Forced Organ Harvesting Rotary Satellite Club of CAAHT
Ms. Emily Huang, Public Image Director of End Forced Organ Harvesting Rotary Satellite Club of CAAHT
Dr. Wen Chen, China Coordinator of Amnesty International Group 22
This film doesn't just inform—it challenges us to confront uncomfortable truths and to take a stand. Your awareness, your voice, can help shed light on one of the darkest human rights issues of our time.
This event is sponsored by End Forced Organ Harvesting Rotary Satellite Club, Community Action Against Human Trafficking Rotary Club, Rotary District 5710 Anti-Human Trafficking Committee, Topeka Shawnee County Anti-Human Trafficking Coalition and International Public Policy Institute.
