Author Maxine Stone joins our "Pathways Through Nature" Speaker on March 3rd! Get ready for Spring by learning about our local mushrooms when she presents "MISSOURI'S WILD MUSHROOMS: BUT ARE THEY EDIBLE?" Maxine Stone is past-president of the Missouri Mycological Society and has served on its board of directors. She is a passionate mycophile (someone who is fascinated by mushrooms) and loves studying and teaching mycology. With a Bachelors from Fontbonne University and a Masters from Washington University, Maxine has a deep love of the outdoors and learning. She is a Master Gardener with the Missouri Botanical Garden, a Missouri Master Naturalist with the Department of Conservation and has a Master Naturalist Certificate from St Louis Community College. Maxine lives in St Louis, where her kitchen is full of dried and preserved mushrooms. A happy day for her is one spent hunting and cooking mushrooms with family and friends.
