Thalia Symphony concludes our 2023-24 season with music both Old and New.
The featured NEW piece is the premiere of ‘Remembering an Irish Mam’ by orchestra member/composer Ray Heraty - a loving reminiscence for large orchestra.
Principal winds Chris Vaughn (clarinet), Dan Kerlee (bassoon) and Kristin Woodward (horn) are showcased in the ‘Sinfonia Concertante’ by Finnish composer Bernhard Crusell (the ‘OLD’ piece in the program).
You'll also hear ‘Euterpe’ by the ground-breaking American composer George Chadwick and ‘In the South’ by British composer Edward Elgar, both ‘the latest thing’, written around the turn of the last century.
