Join us for a special evening with well-known local musician Andrew London and Wellington poet Rachel McAlpine. Entry from 5pm with the event kicking off at 5.30pm. Refreshments provided. Andrew is a songwriter and satirist and performs most often solo or duo (with Kirsten London on bass). His songs explore social and political themes and although humour and satire is very much to the fore, poignancy and pathos are often not far away.
Wellington based Rachel McAlpine has been writing for many years with a huge body of work. Currently, she blogs and podcasts about old age. She has published novels, songs, plays, books about writing as well as a number of poetry collections. To celebrate her 80th birthday she published a new book of poems, How to Be Old.
Rachel and Andrew feature in a new show on 14 December at Kapiti Playhouse, called Still Not Dead.
"The show is a celebration of age and ageing in song & spoken word & anything else that may occur in the heat of the moment.
Andrew and Rachel have kindly donated special prize giveaways for our event - so come along and you could win two free tickets for the show, a free CD or a poetry book! Refreshments will be provided. Please RSVP to: [email protected]
