About this Event
We are delighted to have local moth expert David Lampard, County Moth Recorder, and Curator (Geology and Zoology) at The McManus, Dundee, lead our fourth Moth Night of the season.
Coinciding with sunset, we will meet at the Garden, on THURSDAY 14th OCTOBER at 6:15pm. As darkness falls, the very bright light emitted by the trap will attract and capture the locally flying moths. The captured moths will safely hide in egg boxes lining the base of the trap. The session will run for around 2-3 hours depending on the numbers of moths flying, but no need to stay for the whole time. As weather conditions will potentially be wet, please wear suitable clothing and footwear.
Then again in the Garden, on FRIDAY 15th OCTOBER at 10:15am, the ‘big reveal’ will be held when the trap is opened and the moths carefully removed for identification before being released. Which species will be identified and how many this time? To find out, please come along and “Meet the Moths”.
This workshop is the last for the year and is subject to the weather conditions. Please register your interest so that we can contact you should the dates change or should the event need to be cancelled.
