Our first talk of the year will be at Llangollen Museum once again after being closed for the construction of the new roof. We will start our first illustrated talk with no other than Graham Edwards and his expansion on the Welsh settlers of Patagonia. This talk will focus on the unique friendly relationship between the Welsh settlers and the native Tehuelches tribe in Patagonia. Without a doubt, the settlers would not have survived without the friendship of the natives, who traded with them and taught them how to hunt. The amazing thing is not one drop of blood was spilled in their relationship and the Tehuelches referred to the Welsh as "Los Amigos."
The legacy of the settlers remain as Patagonia, Argentina still has a Welsh speaking school that is an incredible and unique gem. Graham will be trying to raise funds for the school and any donations towards the cause to keep a little bit of Welsh culture in the opposite corner of the world will be greatly appreciated!
Tickets for this fascinating talk will be £3 at the door and refreshments will be provided. We hope to see you there!
