This lively festival carries profound cultural meaning, signifying the shift into a new year brimming with hope and fresh starts.
The word "Lho" means "New," while "Chaar" stands for "Year." As we welcome the new year of the Horse (Ta-Lho), we also take a moment to say goodbye to the Snake (Saprih-Lho), representing the conclusion of one cycle and the commencement of another. This change is more than just a date on the calendar; it symbolizes a period for reflection, gratitude, and setting intentions for the upcoming year.
Lhochhar is a time for togetherness and celebration, where families and friends unite to revel in the joy of the event. The atmosphere is filled with laughter, music, and the delightful aroma of traditional Nepali cuisine.
