About this Event
Join the Center for Law and Social Justice (CLSJ) at Medgar Evers College as we honor the late Congressman John Lewis's life and legacy with a summer night indoor film screening.
This event celebrates the late Congressman Lewis's tireless advocacy for civil rights and social justice while raising awareness about critical legislative efforts, such as the fight for the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, the Freedom to Vote Act, Project 2025 and other threats to our civil rights.
Program will include:
- Free movie screening of "John Lewis: Good Trouble" with complimentary refreshments.
- Closing vigil to celebrate the spirit of John Lewis with our community & commit to doing the work of building a more just world.
Why Attend:
For one thing, it's going to be a good time! Plus, this event is part of CLSJ's Our Future Our Vote campaign. We're working to empower our community by doing the following:
- Elevate civic knowledge and civic participation in NYC communities of African descent with a special emphasis on voters aged 17-40;
- Build out the infrastructure necessary for sustained political empowerment within NYC’s Black communities; and
- Center the power of the people through voting, civic engagement, and grassroots organizing!
