Isog! Celebrate with us the 500 years of Cebuano heroism, from the time of Lapulapu (1521), Leon Kilat (1898) to today's unsung heroes! The triumphant 1898 Battle of Tres de Abril in Cebu was the opening salvo of the Cebu revolution that eventually won the final victory against Spanish forces in December 1898.
Indeed, the 1898 Cebu revolution was inspired by the Victory at Mactan in 1521.
April 3, 2021 is also the 4th anniversary of the Grand Opening of Cebu's only heritage hotel, Palm Grass.
The triple celebration will be held this April 8, the 123rd anniversary of the martyrdom of Leon Kilat, the leader of the Battle of Tres de Abril.
Join us in appreciating the artworks of Cebu grade schoolers who will express their love for Cebu through their talent in visual arts.
We will also witness the launching of the 4th edition of a book on the whole period of Cebu history from the 1500's until the 1890's, authored by Cebu historian, the late Dionisio Sy.
We will also listen to inspiring messages from Cebu Katipunero descendants, including a descendant of Leon Kilat, Jeffrey Villegas Cepayo.
The Cebu City Cultural and Historical Affairs Commission Commissioner and Katipunero descendant, Dr. Arsenio Pacana will also share his insights on the Cebuano heroism.
The Department of Education Undersecretary Atty. Revsee Escobedo will also give a talk on how the youth, through cultural transmission, will be able to emulate our heroes.
Other highlights of the events are:
