"In Search of Mah Hang" directed by Victoria So and produced by Catherine Clement and Dr. Henry Yu, follows the story of Mah Hang, a Canadian-born Chinese woman who in 1931 confronted the male-dominated Wong Clan Association in a courageous attempt to free herself and her children from an arranged marriage to a much older man.
"Born an Immigrant – The Dressmaker" directed by Jennifer Lee and produced by Robin Pascoe, is an uplifting documentary about a Canadian-born Chinese woman who supports her family by becoming a dressmaker in Victoria, British Columbia during the Chinese Exclusion Act.
After the screening, join director Jennifer Lee, producer Catherine Clement, and VCMS Board Chair Grace Wong Sneddon for a panel discussion.
ADMISSION IS FREE, HOWEVER TICKETS ARE REQUIRED.
