"I Am / We Are: Seen” Photography and Empathy Building
How does your identity and lived experience shape the way you move through the world? How do others perceive you? Do those perceptions align with or differ from your own sense of self? Creative Ambassador Tricia Creason-Valencia and Nicole Ennen of Org Empathy Consulting invite you to an interactive workshop exploring identity and connection through writing, portrait photography and group dialogue.
Through guided quick-writing prompts, participants will explore personal identities and collective values that make them who they are. Together, we will reflect on the strengths we carry rooted in our identities and communities. Tricia will guide participants in photographing embodied word portraits, projecting text fragments onto their bodies, making their identities visible. We will expand beyond I Am into We Are, engaging in empathy practices and facilitated dialogue; Nicole will lead participants in witnessing one another’s stories and discovering points of connection.
This workshop is part of Tricia Creason-Valencia’s “I Am/We Are: Our Stories Connect Us” Creative Ambassador project for the City of San José which celebrates creative expression as a tool for connection and collective healing.
