Join us for the 21st edition of the North Korean Refugee English Speech Contest, "I am from North Korea," presented by Freedom Speakers International (FSI). This event offers a unique opportunity to hear firsthand accounts of the lived experiences of North Korean refugees

[Background]
Freedom Speakers International (FSI) was founded in March 2013 by Casey Lartigue Jr. and Eunkoo Lee, with a mission to empower North Korean refugees through mentorship, opportunities, and partnerships. FSI has provided English, public speaking, and career development training to over 500 North Korean refugees with the help of 1,200 volunteers. Additionally, FSI has published two books by North Korean refugees, with two more scheduled for release in 2024.

Our mission is to empower North Korean refugees and foster greater empathy and understanding within the global community. Through events like the English Speech Contest, public events in South Korea, and book publishing, FSI aims to provide support and opportunities for North Korean refugees to thrive.
