About this Event
Produced in partnership with the Humanities Council of Washington D.C., the documentary encapsulates a special time in the D.C. area when local Hip-Hop artists gathered and motivated each other. Featuring early luminaries like Toni Lightfoot, Toni Blackman, and the Poem-cees, the film paints a vivid picture of the vibrant existence of a Hip-Hop scene in the DC Metropolitan area.
The screening will be held at the Eaton Hotel Cinema at 1201 K Street, NW, Washington D.C., 20005 from 6pm to 9pm. A Q&A session with the documentary’s creators, Khalil “D’Jamaal” Gill and Shatungwa “Chakra Ashram” Juma will be held immediately after the screening. The evening will also feature a special “Happy Hour Video Mix” by AMPHBNS member, Chakra Ashram.
