About this Event
Morris County Historical Society is pleased to partner with local historians and history organizations to present a Morris County Walking Tour Series that celebrates the area’s rich and diverse past . From April through October, join us for nearly 40 guided walking tours that explore almost two dozen communities throughout Morris County, with topics ranging from unique historic districts, downtowns, and neighborhoods to local industries that shaped the landscape, and the individuals who left a lasting impact.
Famous ghosts from the 1700’s to 1900’s rise to tell their stories. Meet a revolutionary war soldier who served in Washington’s Life Guard along with five of Madison’s “founding mothers”, all buried in Hillside Cemetery. Our female ghosts include a famous author, a suffragette, a gypsy queen, a titanic survivor, a WWI nurse, and the wife of a revolutionary war Pastor who became Madison’s first businesswoman. Hear about their lives, their challenges and how these people impacted our community. Be prepared to walk about a quarter mile uphill and on uneven terrain.
FREE. Rain/Shine. Pre-registration required.
