Falling into PlaceA 2.5-hour beginner Contact Improvisation 6 week workshop
Contact improvisation is a movement practice based on listening, shared weight, and responsiveness.
It’s about moving with another person without needing to plan or perform.
The form was developed in the 1970s by dancer Steve Paxton, emerging from a curiosity around gravity, falling, and how bodies can meet and support each other in motion.
This 2.5-hour workshop is an invitation into that space.
Designed for beginners, “Falling into Place” offers a gentle introduction to the foundations of contact improvisation —
exploring weight sharing, listening through touch, following momentum, and moving with another body.
The session is guided through simple, accessible structures that support you to build trust, awareness, and confidence in your movement.
No experience needed.
Nothing to get right.
Just a space to arrive as you are, connect, and begin to explore.
What to expect:
Gentle warm-ups to arrive in the body
Solo explorations
Foundational partner practices
Introduction to weight sharing, balance, and lifts
Group explorations
Time to rest, reflect, and integrate
A space to slow down, to feel, and to let movement emerge naturally.
