After decades of systemic disinvestment and the 2022 mass shooting in Buffalo, Diamonds in the Rust examines how public policy, private industry, and community leadership intersect to address racial wealth disparities. Centered on the 2023 Erie County Level Up Initiative started by Senator April Baskin, the film offers a blueprint for restoring opportunity and advancing economic equity nationwide. The documentary features stories from several entrepreneurs, community leaders, and corporation representatives.
