About this Event
Join Lighthouse Writers Workshop and MCA Denver at the Holiday Theater for a special screening of the Academy Award–nominated short documentary, , directed by Kim A. Snyder and written by Sam Fuentes. This film follows Sam Fuentes, a writer and school shooting survivor, as she confronts her assailant in a poetic journey to empowerment. A post-show Q&A with Fuentes (appearing virtually) and fellow writer and survivor Krista Hanley will follow.
Attendees are also invited to register on the Lighthouse Writers Workshop website for a two-hour, in-person writing workshop, “Writing for Reclamation,” before the screening. Inspired by the film, this workshop explores the power of personal narrative and journaling as tools for reclaiming our own stories of loss, trauma, resilience, and strength.
The film screening and writing workshop are ticketed separately.
