CREATED TO BELONG: Cultivating a Sabbath School Where Every Child Feels Seen, Valued, and IncludedEvery child who walks into your Sabbath School should know one thing: You belong here. This two-part workshop explores how to create a welcoming, safe, and spiritually nurturing environment for all children — including those with special needs, behavioral challenges, and diverse backgrounds.
March 13 6:30 - 8:00 PM Snacks Provided
Workshop 1: Establishing a Culture of Belonging focuses on building a mindset and ministry culture that prioritizes inclusion, acceptance, and connection.
March 14 1:30 - 4:00 PM Vegetarian Lunch Provided
Workshop 2: Strategies and Tools for Inclusive Ministry offers practical tools, classroom strategies, and real-life examples to support leaders and volunteers in making every child feel welcome.
Presenter:
Linda Schaffner has been involved in Children's Ministries for over 25 years. She has held many different positions including Sabbath School Teacher, local church Children's Ministries Coordinator, VBS Director, Camp Meeting Children's Division Coordinator, and Conference Children's Ministries Coordinator. She has worked with the NAD as the Special Needs Specialist and written material for the new General Conference Sabbath School curriculum, Alive in Jesus.
Linda graduated from Loma Linda University with a Master of Physical Therapy degree. She has worked in various educational and medical settings with children with disabilities. In 2010 her youngest child was diagnosed with Autism at the age of 5. This has given her firsthand experience in the daily challenges and joys of parenting a child with special needs.
