On Saturday, September 20th at 1pm, The Future Perfect Project returns to Joe’s Pub in New York City to premiere a new documentary short film about our groundbreaking music residency: Future Perfect Records. This one-year residency supports young LGBTQ+ artists from across the United States to conceive, write, record, and release a concept album of original music.
In the 2023 season, twelve remarkable young people created the album . After a year of virtual collaboration, they met in person for the first time in New York City, culminating in a live performance of their album at the prestigious Joe’s Pub. Now, nearly two years later, The Future Perfect Project returns to the very venue where it all began for a special screening of our documentary, capturing the original performance and teh brilliant young queer artists who brought it to life.
This special 75-minute afternoon event will feature the world premiere of the film alongside live performances by alumni of the Future Perfect Records program.
Documentary Synopsis: A group of young LGBTQ+ music-makers from around the country are selected to participate in a one-year music residency, then flown to New York City where they meet in person for the very first time and premiere their new original album in front of a live audience at the prestigious Joe’s Pub.
The Future Perfect Project (FPP), a national organization amplifying the voices of LGBTQIA+ young people, produces this heartfelt documentary to feature the brilliance, originality, and heart of the current generation of queer young people. This documentary is one of many projects that FPP creates to show the expression of queer youth voices is a declaration of a better future for us all, one where everyone is safe, seen, and celebrated.
