An under-reported, grisly armed conflict in Cameroon emerged in 2017 from an independence movement that seeks to redress historical marginalization of the English-speaking minority by the French-speaking government. Numerous would-be mediators have offered help, a national dialogue was held, but the conflict rages on. Foreign-led peace initiatives made progress but then collapsed. Dr. Suzanne Ghais (a member of Arvada Rotary) will overview the origins of the conflict and the current state of peacemaking efforts based on her ongoing work through Pathfinders4Peace. Implications will be discussed for the difficult getting-to-the-table and pre-negotiation stages of peace negotiations. https://www.pathfinders4peace.org/
