"Aftermath Liturgy" - New Works Commissioned Play from Min Kahng
Aftermath Liturgy is an original play by acclaimed playwright, composer, and lyricist Min Kahng (Happy Pleasant Valley, The Four Immigrants), commissioned by Contemporary Asian Theater Scene (CATS).
This intimate theatrical experience explores how belief, identity, and community evolve when long-held certainties begin to shift. Featuring live music, projected lyrics, and moments of audience participation, the performance invites you to sing along, reflect, and be part of a shared gathering.
Blending storytelling, music, and ritual, Aftermath Liturgy is a moving exploration of loss, discovery, and the search for meaning and belonging.
Min Kahng (he/him) is an award-winning playwright, composer, and lyricist whose works include Happy Pleasant Valley: A Senior Sex Scandal M**der Mystery Musical, The Four Immigrants: An American Musical Manga (Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle Award, Theatre Bay Area Award, Edgerton New Play Award, NAMT Production Grant), GOLD: The Midas Musical (Theatre Bay Area Award), The Adventures of Honey & Leon, Inside Out & Back Again, Where the Mountain Meets the Moon: A Musical Adaptation, Bad Kitty On Stage!, The Song of the Nightingale and Tales of Olympus. Kahng is a MacDowell Fellow, a Travis Bogard Fellow, and an alumnus of the Playwrights Foundation Resident Initiative, Berkeley Rep’s Ground Floor, Djerassi, Willapa Bay AiR, and the TheatreWorks New Works Festival. He is also an NEA Grant Recipient, a Jonathan Larson Grant Finalist, a Richard Rodgers Award Finalist, and a Dramatists Guild committee member. www.minkahng.com
