Join us Wednesday, July 24, 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Onsite Gallery as Ryan Rice offers an in-depth curatorial tour of the exhibitions "_other tongues part I communication" and "Jean Marshall: Anikoobijikewin"._other tongues part I communication is an exhibition centered around the theme of language, communication, and cultural heritage presented through the tangible creative disciplines of art, media, and design. With juried works selected from thirteen OCAD University-affiliated faculty and staff, the exhibition aims to raise awareness and broaden the focus of the wide-ranging fragility of language – “mother tongues” – across many cultures and resonate in the face of global environmental and social crises.
Featuring works by: lyanu Ajagunna, Schem Rogerson Bader, Susan Blight, Simon Glass, Ursula Handleigh, Julius Poncelet Manapul, Diane Mikhael Minassian, Dr. Kathy Moscou, Par Nair Nielsen, Julia Rose Sutherland, Tommy Truong, Natalie Waldburger, and Amy Wing-Hann Wong.
Jean Marshall: Anikoobijikewin is the second of two solo exhibitions in the series Mawadishiwewin (visits) that delve into the connections formed through visiting, creating, and sharing.
