AND Mental Health

The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), held every September at the United Nations headquarters in New York City, is an annual gathering of all 193 United Nations member states to discuss global issues. The theme of the General Assembly’s upcoming 79th Session is “AND Mental Health: Prioritizing and rethinking mental health financing.” This session will provide an important opportunity for member states to review the current state of mental health financing and its integration into the broader NCD agenda.

On behalf of the Health Finance Institute and Boehringer Ingelheim (BI), we request the honor of your presence at a high-level, registration-only breakfast event on the sidelines of UNGA 79. The event, titled "AND Mental Health: Prioritizing and rethinking mental health financing" will take place on Wednesday, September 25th, from 8:00 am to 9:30 am EST, in the Cambridge Room at the Harvard Club of New York City.

Highlights will include a panel discussion with renowned finance experts, Ministers of Health, and directors of international organizations. Panelists will offer their expertise on mental health financing, showcasing targeted finance solutions that have positively influenced healthcare delivery and accessibility. The discussion will also review the global disease burden of mental health and explore its potential integration into the broader Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD) agenda. Targeted finance solutions are crucial in UN conversations to address evolving health challenges, mobilize resources, encourage collaboration, and promote equitable and sustainable healthcare systems globally, advancing Mental Health and the Sustainable Development Goals.
