Shake, rotate, open, fold, spin, flex, and extend your beautiful unique body to practice with the incredible Mary Geibel. Take a practical look at yoga posture anatomy on the mat to enlighten more body awareness and deeper connections within your asana practice. Expect a combination of lecture, discussion, and physical practice. All are welcome - beginner yogi, advanced yogi, yoga teachers and those who are interested in learning practical anatomy.Session I: Saturday, February 22: 10:30 am-12:30 pm
Common areas used in asana practice; ankles and wrists, pelvis and hips, spine/lumbar, knees and feet, neck, shoulders and chest, and abdomen/core.
Session II: Saturday, February 22: 1:00-4:00 pm
Major muscles, joints, and bones of the body and how they relate to yoga posture practice. Learn postures to stretch and strengthen different areas of the body and understand benefits and possible contraindications.
Session III: Sunday, March 30: 1:00-4:00 pm
Intelligent anatomical asana sequencing (possible categories: sun salutations, standing, forward, backward, side (lateral), twisting and inverting postures, balancing, arm balancing, hip opening and shoulder & chest opening).
