Buying your home can be overwhelming, especially if you love to analyze every detail. Unfortunately it takes more than spreadsheets! In my talk, I’ll break down when to lean into the numbers and when to step back, while exploring strategies for buying, selling, and investing in real estate that complement our analytical nature. I’ve been there myself, I was a software engineer who bought my first home in SF almost 20 years ago, and then gradually started investing in real estate until it eventually became my full-time job.
We’ll cover how purchasing a primary residence differs from buying an investment property, both in terms of the features that matter and the numbers you should run. You’ll also learn how the offer process works, strategies to consider when competing in the Bay Area market, and frameworks for making the big-picture decisions: rent vs. buy, or if you’re moving, sell vs. rent out your current home.
