About this Event

This program features β€œAn Introduction to The American Revolution,” a compelling reel from the forthcoming documentary series by acclaimed filmmaker Ken Burns, along with collaborators Sarah Botstein and David Schmidt. The film offers an engaging overview of the series, drawing audiences into the story of the Revolution while highlighting the central themes, conflicts, and ideas that continue to shape the United States today.

Following the screening, guests are invited to stay for a brief facilitated discussion led by Richard Pickering, Deputy Executive Director & Chief Historian, reflecting on the origins of the American Revolution, the diverse perspectives involved, and the enduring questions of liberty, representation, and identity that remain relevant 250 years later.

Presented as part of the commemoration of the nation’s Semiquincentennial, this evening offers an opportunity to reflect on the Revolutionary era in the very place where its legacy continues to be interpreted and explored.
