An Introduction to System Dynamics & Agent-Based Modelling

Computer simulations provide powerful tools to understand complex systems and predict how they change over time. This interdisciplinary workshop introduces postgraduate students to the fundamentals of system dynamics through computational modelling.

Using the flexible and accessible R programming language, you will learn to simulate processes ranging from disease spread to balancing conservation with human development. Through hands-on examples, we will explore both differential equation models and agent-based approaches to reveal insights into the structure, behaviour, and potential futures of dynamic systems.

While some prior experience with R or modelling is helpful, we’ll start from the ground up—making this workshop perfect for budding scientists eager to unlock the power of modelling.
