This 6 part course is will guide attendees through the fundamental principles of supported accommodation and the associated regulations.
About this Event

Sessions will run on the following Tuesdays; March 4th, 11th & 25th plus April 1st, 22nd & 29th (13:00 to 15:00).

This 6 part course is a great opportunity for those new to the sector, or those within the sector but wanting to strengthen knowledge and understanding to gain an introductory understanding to many of the key principles within the regulations.

In this course, we we’ll be covering the following topics at introductory level:

  • Statement of purpose
  • Keeping young people at the centre of all you do
  • Working in regulatory settings – Policy framework
  • Safeguarding requirements
  • Support plans (and when to provide care)
  • Accommodation standards
  • Referrals
  • Reg27
  • Reg32
  • Young people going missing
  • Staff regulations

Michelle Nicholson has a 20-year career in Children’s Residential Services working with Children and has previously set up a children’s home after working in long term secure home, a first of it’s kind as a transitional children’s home for young people to move to following their time in a secure children’s home. Michelle has extensive experience of managing inspections and registering homes with Ofsted, with experience in policy writing, management of staff, delivering training and extensive safeguarding knowledge. She also has experience of supporting young people at significant risk of CSE and CCE. Michelle has a history of building strong multiagency care teams to ensure that young people have their needs met and are safe and advocates for young people at every opportunity in supporting them to have their voice heard.

This series of six 2-hour sessions (the equivalent of a 2-day course) is run online using Zoom. You will receive a link and password to a launch page where you will find a set of instructions and course materials. A fully CPD accredited learning journey suitable for all key roles from within the sector.

This course is priced at £264+vat, reduced to £149+vat for members of the National Association of Supported Accommodation Partners.
