An Introduction to Ceremonial Magick: Simple Steps Toward Powerful and Effective Magical Rituals with Dr. David Shoemaker
About this Event

While mastering magical ritual is a lifetime’s work, the steps involved are simple and straightforward. In this workshop, David Shoemaker will explore the building blocks of ceremonial magical ritual, including ritual structure, performance tips, and the use of banishings, purifications, invocations, assumption of God-Forms, and much more. The session will culminate with the construction and performance of an actual ritual, using volunteers from the audience.
About the Presenter:
Dr. David Shoemaker is the Chancellor and Prolocutor of the Temple of the Silver Star, a Thelemic initiatory and educational organization (totss.org), and a Sovereign Grand Inspector General of the US Grand Lodge of Ordo Templi Orientis (O.T.O.) He has been a member of O.T.O. and A∴A∴ (onestarinsight.org) since 1993, and he has many years of experience training students in these traditions.
David’s “Living Thelema” podcast episodes have appeared regularly since 2010, and the well regarded Living Thelema book was recently republished by Weiser Books. He was the co-editor (with Lon Milo DuQuette) of Llewellyn’s Complete Book of Ceremonial Magick, and his new book The Way of the Will: Thelema in Action was released by Weiser Books in May 2024.
In addition to his writing and teaching in the world of Thelema and magick, David is a clinical psychologist in private practice, and a musician/composer.
This event will take place live at the South Tacoma Masonic Center, as well as via livestream.
