About this Event
An Intimate Historical Tour of Corktown with Local Historian Tim McKay
Tim will take us to those places you know and some you don't. He will give you the history of the neighborhood dating back to the mid-1800s. We will go primarily by bus but there will be an opportunity to walk a little too. At the end, we will be at the Gaelic League for food and there will be a cash bar.
Tim will be talking about the original residents, their connection to the City, employment then and now, sites to see then and now, the architecture then and now and so much more. We will see both the Michigan Central Station and Holy Trinity Church. We won't have time to go into the Station but will provide information on when it is available to see at another time.
The tour will start at 1 pm. Those of you that would like to can meet the bus at Schoolcraft College parking area in Livonia at 12 pm. You will park and return there and ride into Corktown on our bus.
If you prefer, you can drive to Corktown directly and we will provide you with parking instructions and where to get the bus prior to the event.
