About this Event

Please note: this event will be held in person at Glasgow Zine Library and is suitable for over 18s only.

Join Jeremy Sachs, a psychotherapist, lecturer, and author, as he delves into the creation of his new book, 'An Intersectional Guide for Male Survivors of Sexual Abuse and their Allies: Masculinity Reconnected'. This essential resource is designed for male survivors of sexual abuse, as well as healthcare professionals, therapists, and loved ones of survivors.

The book explores the impact of sexual abuse on diverse male identities through an intersectional lens, examining how unique circumstances and societal perceptions influence recovery or exacerbate trauma. Each chapter focuses on topics selected by hundreds of male survivors who have participated in the author’s recovery groups. Featuring survivor testimonies, resource guides, and reflective activities, the book offers practical tools and a transformative justice prespective to help navigate the aftermath of sexual trauma.

‘Packed full of insights, practical guidance and signposting, this is an engaging, accessible, and deeply compassionate text for male survivors of sexual abuse and their allies—including the professionals working with them. An essential guide for those wanting to navigate this complex, sensitive, but profoundly important field.’ -

Mick Cooper, author of Psychology at the Heart of Social Change (Policy Press, 2023).

CW: Topics discussed will be sensitive and include: mental health, relational abuses including sexual abuse, gender, racism and discrimination.
