About this Event
London, 1843. It’s Christmas Eve, and miserly Ebenezer Scrooge sits alone in his mansion, eating gruel by a dying fire. The sound of rattling chains breaks the icy silence, and thus begins the action of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol.
Join New York Adventure Club for an interactive one-man theatrical showcase of A Christmas Carol.
Actor and writer Jeffries Thaiss brings Scrooge and twenty other characters to life in this intimate, simple, yet imaginatively intense one-person adaptation of the classic that is truer to Dickens' original text than almost any other adaptation.
Beginning with an interactive introduction, Thaiss sets the adaptation in the context of the world Dickens lived in and the world we live in now, and asks the audience to join him in telling the story by providing sound effects and saying some familiar lines. But don't worry — participation by audience members is optional, it just adds to the fun!
Stick around for a spirited talkback immediately following the show!
*Runtime is around 75 minutes without intermission followed by a 15-minute talkback
**Doors open 15 minutes before the performance
